Stepping Stones again receives nearly $24,000.00 in grant money
from Keystone STARS to benefit our child care programs.
The Main Center maintains its NAEYC accreditation and STAR 4
designation. Because of its NAEYC accreditation, licensure is granted
by the Department of Education.
A proposal is submitted to the Pine-Richland School District
for a before/after school-age program in the Upper Elementary School
opening in 2008.

2005

Stepping Stones Main Center receives
accreditation from the National Association for the Education of
Young Children.
All six program facilities are registered in the Keystone STARS
program, a new program designed to improve and support quality child
care and education in the state of Pennsylvania.
At our Crossroads Church facility, members of the church remove
walls in the older section of the church to create a new kindergarten
care space. Two additional rooms in the other section are also set
up for infant care and a Director's Office.

2004

Stepping Stones closes the program
site at the Pine-Richland Youth Center (due to lack of space and
usable playground) and expands the program at the Crossroads Church
to include infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners.
Stepping Stones is awarded a contract with the Mars Area School
District to provide Before/After School Age care in the Mars Primary
Center.
Stepping Stones celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a Gala and
Silent Auction at the Chadwick in Wexford. Over one hundred staff,
board and parents attend.
The Pine-Richland School District again awards Stepping Stones a
three year contract (through the 2006-2007 school year) to provide
Before/After School Age Care in each of the three elementary schools
in the district.
The Before/After School Program at Richland Elementary receives
accreditation from the National After School Association. (Formerly
the National School Age Care Alliance)
A space for Older Infants is created at the Main Center.

| Stepping Stones Main
Center expands and opens a new young Infant Room, Conference Room,
Staff room, a new office for the Administrative Director and an office
for the School-Age Coordinator. |

a Satellite Child Care Program at the Pine-Richland Youth Center.

moved to the Warrendale Road site.
Stepping Stones Office is moved to the Warrendale Road site,
now our "Main Center".

Stepping Stones adopts the Children, Families
and Staff of the former Beanstalk Child Care Center and opens an
additional site for Extended Day Child Care in the former Pine Elementary
School next to the Pine-Richland High School (712 Warrendale Road).
Construction begins a the Warrendale site to
add two classrooms, bathrooms and office space.

Stepping Stones moves out of the Farmhouse,
its home of 14 years.
Stepping Stones Children's Center moves its programs to the Greater
Pittsburgh Junior Academy and the Cross Roads Presbyterian Church.
After Kindergarten Care Program is created.

The Extended Day Child Care for Infants
and Young Toddlers is added to our programs of care.
Additional space for our Extended Day Child Care Program is opened
in the Greater Pittsburgh Junior Academy, 3 miles west of the Eden
Hall site on North Montour Road.

A partnership between the Home Economics
Department of the Pine-Richland High School and Stepping Stones
leads to the creation of a Work-Study in Child Development for High
School Juniors and Seniors.
Our Before/After School-Age Child Care Program relocates to the
Hance Elementary School in the Pine-Richland School District.
